Alberta Ferretti designs a lifestyle

Through her designs Alberta Ferretti has never failed to craft the kind of woman I want people to see me as: elegant, sophisticated, glamorous, refined and so effortlessly chic. Her latest F/W collection for Milan Fashion Week was organized as a regular fashion show. If it weren’t for the lack of audience along the banks of the runway, we would have easily forgotten the pandemic.

The models strut engulfed by this sheer layer of fog that makes the stage look like the perfect set for a Noir movie. Although the main color of the collection is black, Ferretti envisioned a versatile wardrobe that range from olive greens and Aegean blue to mustard and warm camel shades. The collection doesn’t aim at extravagance and excess, but it does reach a level of stylistic opulence in terms of exquisiteness of tailoring and generosity of fabrics. The models’ silhouettes are enhanced by Alberta Ferretti’s creations, but they never look constricted or stiff. There is a fluidity which comes with every look that conveys comfort and nonchalance.

The use of accessories is cut to the bone, but the ones that made it to the show complement the garments and add value to the clothes. The hats whose wide brims loom over the models’ eyes are an absolute gem.

The show ends with the “dulcest” of dulcis infundo’s: sumptuous black evening gowns and a dash of gold that twinkles on the sequins of a pair of trousers and a dazzling floor length dress with Sabrina neckline. Alberta Ferretti foresees a return to normality where women want to feel sensual and beautiful as ever, but also comfortable and effortlessly put-together.
